On April 05,2024, the honourable Marc Miller, minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada, announced an update for study permits for 2024.

The limit or cap set for study permits for 2024, is set at approximately 364000 approved new students. A decrease of 35 percent from 2023.

Also, most students with their study permit applications are now required to attach a provincial attestation letter (PAL). or one from a territory, otherwise your application will be returned by IRCC. This attestation letter will serve as a proof that the applicant has been accounted for the cap.

International students which are exempt from the PAL include primary, secondary school students and master or doctoral degree students.
