Over 290,000 foreign nationals were admitted as permanent residents in Canada in 2016. Of those admitted, 53% were economic immigrants along with their spouse/partner and dependants.
There are a variety of programs available to applicants who seek permanent residence in Canada. Included are the Federal Government ones which are available through the Express Entry.
EXPRESS ENTRY.
Launched in January 2015, the Express Entry (EE) is Canada’s application management system which include the three permanent residence immigration programs:- Federal Skilled Workers Program

- And a portion of the Provincial Nominee Program

The Federal Economic-Caregiver Category.
It includes two pathways to permanent residence:- The caring for children program,
- The caring for people with their high medical needs program.

Family Class Sponsorship
As a Canadian citizen, person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian act or as a Permanent Resident of Canada, you can sponsor certain relatives to come to Canada if you’re at least 18 years of age.Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)
Most provinces and territories in Canada can nominate immigrants through the Provincial Nominee Program. These immigrants must have the skills, education and work experience to contribute to the economy and must want to live there. Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada has a bilateral agreement with all provinces and territories except Quebec and Nunavut. This allows the province to nominate individuals for permanent residence (PR) who will meet specific local labour market needs.Among the Streams for Permanent Residence are:
